Australia Still Needs Stimulus Aid to Grow, Swan Says

“The government’s fiscal stimulus was vital in preventing the economy going backwards, with Treasury estimating that our stimulus measures added 0.4 percentage points to gross domestic product growth in the quarter,” Swan said in a statement.

Without the stimulus, Australia’s economy would have shrunk by 2 percent during the past year, instead of embarking on its 19th consecutive year of growth, Swan said.
